Mail to Tommy Hilfiger re: Request for feedback on my reliability
In addition, maybe I should make something clearer than shines through
in my previous e-mail. Because we've never been in contact before.
I assert that I have never before heard even one official word from
Tommy Hilfiger about why they would either not want to work with me or
have an opinion that I would not be suitable for any kind of work.
Next to that, _also unofficially_ I have never perceived any tension or
spoilt relation with any colleague inside Tommy Hilfiger, ever. I have
worked productively and positively until the morning I was told by my

I almost turned git user, for the first time. Drat. I do have a GitHub account, so I'm +1 on the l33tness scale, but I haven't used it yet The bug I found two weeks ago (when my life got really busy) is fixed now. So I'll wait until it's necessary.
Hostinfo functionality for AWStats geoipfree plugin // update script
On the web servers I administer, I'm using AWStats for web statistics. I switched from 'geoipfree' to the 'geoip' plugin (using Perl's Geo::IP library) in 2007 because the country database for the Geo::IPFree library was too heavily outdated. And therefore giving too many 'Unkown Country' results in statistics.
I have waited to say this for such a long time...
It isn't as dramatic for me as the comic portrays. I just needed a programming language again that felt like a scripting language... where you can just take some existing functionality from readily available 'libraries', and hack together a little program to do a well-defined one-time task.
And I finally had the time.
Ten years ago programming in Perl was my day job(*), so obviously I was using Perl for stuff like that. But already in 1999 I heard of Python and figured I'd want to try it out.
It never got to that, since...
